New Album Announcement (Kauri's Forest)

My new album Kauri's Forest is out now on bandcamp. It will hit streaming services on October 23rd, 2024. This album is a lot different than my previous projects; I think it's a lot more lively compared to my other stuff. For this album I've been experimenting a lot with samples of real instruments, as well as a lot of different ethnic percussion instruments. I feel like Mushroom Music, Vol. 1 was like a forest at night-time, while Kauri's Forest is like a forest during the day-time. Lately I've been listening to a lot of classical music and I've also been listening to the album Pet Sounds a lot (which is my favorite album). So I think my music taste during the last few months definitely influenced this album a bit.

The video embed above is a teaser video for the album. It shows the character on the cover art of the album talking. I've named this character "Kauri" which is actually the name of a type of tree. Kauri are huge trees that reside in the North Island of New Zealand. The largest living kauri tree is called "Tāne Mahuta" (God of the Forest), and is 148 ft tall. I thought these trees were very beautiful and I like the name of them so that's why I named the character/album after them.

If you watched the video, you will also know that I am selling handmade CDs of Kauri's Forest and Mushroom Music Vol. 1 on bandcamp. Right now I've only made five of each CD, but I will make more if they somehow sell out. Each CD contains a handmade booklet with artwork and details on each track. The Kauri's Forest booklet is made out of some really cool extra thick japanese washi paper, which has a really nice texture. I put a lot of time into making and designing the CDs, so hopefully at least a few people will find them cool.

On October 23rd, when the album releases on streaming services, I will also upload the full album (in one video) to youtube like I did with mushroom music. Until then, the album is available on bandcamp for digital/physical purchase.
